A rebalance that costs more than the drift it fixes is not discipline. It is noise with a signature.
(Background)
Theo writes the rules the morning pass reads: how far each sleeve can drift before a rebalance is drafted, which funds can replace one another, and when a trade is too small to be worth its cost. He spent nine years on a pension fund’s investment team before joining Tranche.
He keeps a public log of every rule change, with the date and the reason, and reviews it with the whole advisory team once a month. A rule does not go live until two advisors who did not write it have signed off on a back-test.
He also signs moves for his own households, mostly families with concentrated stock or several old employer plans that need to be read as one portfolio.
